Social Security is Heading South of the Border

Sound like alarmist fiction? Sadly, it’s all too true. On June 29, 2004 the U.S. Commissioner of Social Security and the Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute signed a "totalization" agreement that would allow Mexican citizens working illegally in the United States to earn Social Security coverage.

We have been waging a battle in Washington against this outrageous scheme that will burden American taxpayers and further strain a Social Security system already on the brink of bankruptcy by giving benefits to illegal aliens. Unfortunately, Congress failed to pass Rep. Ron Paul’s legislation H.R. 858, "Social Security for Americans Only Act," in the last session. So we’re renewing our campaign on Capitol Hill urging our lawmakers to kill this ridiculous plan before it’s too late.

Census Confusion

The Council of Seniors has for years been conducting a "Census of Seniors" to determine some of the issues of greatest importance to our senior citizens. The results can be found under "Surveys" on our site.

Recently, however, because of the official 2010 Census being conducted by the US Government, there have been some reports of seniors confusing our survey with the official census.

To avoid any continued confusion of this nature, we have stopped using the term"Census" for our surveys.

We sincerely apologize for any difficulties caused to senior citizens by this misunderstanding.
