Your Social Security May End Up South of the Border!

Sound like alarmist fiction? Sadly, it’s all too true. On June 29, 2004 the U.S. Commissioner of Social Security and the Director General of the Mexican Social Security Institute signed a "totalization" agreement that would allow Mexican citizens working illegally in the United States to earn Social Security coverage.

We have been waging a battle in Washington against this outrageous scheme that will burden American taxpayers and further strain a Social Security system already on the brink of bankruptcy by giving benefits to illegal aliens. Unfortunately, Congress failed to pass Rep. Ron Paul’s legislation H.R. 858, "Social Security for Americans Only Act," in the last session. So we’re renewing our campaign on Capitol Hill urging our lawmakers to kill this ridiculous plan before it’s too late.

The Truth About "Totalization"

• Mexicans comprise the largest group of illegal aliens in the U.S. with more than 5.9 million “undocumented” workers

• Social Security Administration officials estimate about 50,000 Mexicans would collect $78 million in the first year after going into effect. By 2050, that number is expected to swell to 300,000 Mexicans getting $650 million

• Private, independent studies calculate the cost would be closer to $1 billion in benefits to Mexicans, especially if more illegal aliens gain amnesty through the proposed guest worker program
